It’s mid September and Spring appears to have well and truly arrived. A bit more rain will be nice, but with rainfall sitting at about average for this time (at least on the Tableland), most farm dams and wetlands have ample water. Some farm dams provide stock and domestic water, as well as wildlife habitat. If your dam doesn’t attract much wildlife, here are some ideas.

Between 2012 and 2014, the Strathbogie Ranges CMN partnered with Swanpool Landcare and Warrenbayne-Boho Land Protection Group, to demonstrate how farm dams could easily be transformed into healthy farm wetlands. We made a few short videos to document the project and assist other landholders who might want to do the same. Below is the introductory video – I’ll post the others over the next few weeks.

This project was supported by the Victorian Government.
