Recently, the Strathbogie Ranges CMN organized another mothing night in the Strathbogie Forest, with expert Steve Williams. Steve gives very generously of his time and insight to illuminate (pun!) these little known magicians of the night. The location was on Cleelands Tk, 100 m east of Lima East Rd and the night was perfect: no moon, no breeze and mild temperatures. There were well over 100 species attracted to the light that night, though not all photographed.
Some of the more colourful and spectacular moths:
Here are some of the smaller, less colourful/patterend species (including a spider and ant) – but no less interesting.
Species identifications will be added.
