The past weekend saw the Strathbogie Community come alive with activity aplenty. Really great art, fantastic music and a side-dish of environment.
The Friday night Art Exhibition Opening was a spectacular event. My favorite was the gal iron Wedgetail Eagle sculpture – phenomenal! Saturday was full of Yoga, Belly Dancing, Textiles, Crochet, Felting, Poetry and, in the evening, one of the weekend’s highlights, our Indian feast and Bombay Royale, Bogiewood Party. It was all delicious, energetic & fun – a Great Day and a Great Party! And Sunday was just as good (esp. Jo Jo Smith on the Green). Visit the 535M facebook page for lots of great pics and stories.
Running across both days were several nature-art installations. Strathbogie school kids and teachers put together an AMAZING water-beasties art show along the Bridge to Bridge Reserve Walk. The kids water-beasties models and fact sheets were interspersed with a landcare nature trail and quiz that encouraged the casual observer to look a little more closely. The end result was a beautiful and interesting walk along the Spring Ck and the Seven Creeks, all the way behind the township from one bridge to the other.
Several of us also constructed an Eagle Nest sculpture to display near Tom’s Garage. A board displaying pictures of the several eagles occurring in the Strathbogies accompanied the nest-sculpture. Here are a few pics to whet your appetite, for next year.
