Most of the wildflower display of Herb-rich Foothill Forest has finished, but there’s still a bit of colour, particularly purple, it seems. Maybe it just stands out!
This is the first year for some time that I’ve seen numbers of Common Fringe-lily. They’re always less common than their Chocolate cousins. The Rock Isotome and Blue Bottle-daisy are standards in this forest, though they couldn’t be more different in their strategies; Rock Isotomes often occur in masses at rocky sites, but Bottle-daisies are dotted individually and inconspicuously throughout the forest – I failed to notice them for years!
