This is the beautiful Grey Rice Flower (Pimelea treyvaudii) which is flowering around the Upper Boho Road area now, in the northern Strathbogies.

It can be distinguished from the smaller Common Rice Flower (Pimelea humilis, which is also having a major flowering this spring) as the Grey Rice Flower is a much taller, stronger, upright plant.
P. humilis won’t get beyond 30 cms, whereas P. treyvaudii ranges from around 40cms up to 70-80 cms.

I am interested in finding out its distribution in the Bogies, so please leave a comment under this post if you have it growing round your patch of bush, or let Terry Frewin or Bert know.
