Blotched Bluetongue lizards are a
common sight on our roadsides
at the moment . Many are getting
squashed , sometimes it is impossible
to avoid them but be aware that they
will be basking on the roadsides and are not very agile . Their small legs are of marginal importance in movement as they scuttle away. Bluetongues have
a sinuous mode of progression and short limbs ,which we often cannot see in long vegetation , unfortunately making it all too snake-like . Many are killed in gardens because of this mistake. They are in fact a gardeners helper , eating insects , snails and slugs.
